Participants are limited to one booking and one item per household per session and must remain present throughout the process. All repairs are performed by volunteers on a free, no-guarantee basis; while donations are appreciated to support running costs, participants are responsible for the cost of any necessary spare parts. Please note that all repairs are undertaken at the owner’s risk, and neither the organisers nor volunteers are liable for any loss or damage to items. Repairers reserve the right to refuse work or decline to reassemble items deemed irreparable or unsafe. If an item cannot be fixed, it must be taken away by the owner.
By registering to take part in Ringwood’s Repair Café you understand and agree to abide by the following rules:

To allow as many people as possible to benefit from our service, we ask that you make only one booking and bring only one repair item per household on any one Repair Café session.
The work carried out in the Repair Café is performed free of charge on a voluntary basis by the repairers, however a voluntary donation is greatly appreciated to help with costs of running the Repair Café. We are dependent on donations for the purchase of tools, other equipment and sustainable development of the service in the future.
You are responsible for the purchase or cost of any spare parts necessary for your repair.
If your item is still in warranty, please refer to the manufacturer in the first instance.
Visitors bringing items for repair do so at their own risk. All repairs will be undertaken with you on the understanding that you alone are responsible for your item, the safety of your item and any data.
Volunteers making repairs offer no guarantee of the repairs carried out with your help and are not liable if objects that are repaired in the Repair Café turn out to not to work properly at home.
Neither the organisers nor the volunteer repairers are liable for any loss that may result from advice or instructions concerning repairs, for the loss of items that are repaired by you and our volunteers, for consequential loss or for any other kind of loss resulting from work performed in Ringwood Repair Café.
Volunteer repairers are entitled to refuse to repair certain any particular object and are not obliged to reassemble disassembled items that they cannot repair. and deem are faulty or dangerous.
You must remain present for the period of the repair and until all paperwork has been completed.
If your item cannot be repaired, then you must take your item away with you. Potentially dangerous tools and equipment are present and sometimes used during repairs. Parents must exercise control over, and be responsible for, the behaviour of children and animals whilst attending the Ringwood Repair Café.
By signing this registration, it is assumed that you have read, understood and accept these rules.
The Ringwood Repair Café values your privacy and operates a minimal data approach. We only collect the information necessary to manage your booking and ensure the safety of our repair sessions. To protect your confidentiality, we do not maintain long-term active databases of our visitors or their specific repair histories; your personal data is only retained for the duration of the event to which your registration applies. Any data kept for long-term impact reporting is strictly anonymised.

We collect personal information (such as your name, contact details, and description of the repair item) solely for the purpose of managing your booking and facilitating the repair session. This information allows us to: * Manage event capacity and scheduling. * Assign the most appropriate volunteer repairer to your item. * Ensure health and safety standards are met during the event.
We operate a zero-active-database policy for individual participants: * Event-Specific Storage: Your personal data is only retained for the duration of the event for which you have registered. * Deletion: Once the event and its immediate administrative requirements are concluded, individual registration records are not maintained in an active database. * Past Repairs: We do not track or store historical records of specific repairs linked to individuals once the session is over.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. Your data is only accessible to the event organisers and the specific volunteer assigned to your repair for the duration of the session.
For the purpose of tracking our impact (e.g., total weight of items diverted from landfill or types of items repaired), we may keep anonymised statistics. These records do not contain names, addresses, or any information that could identify you personally.
As we only retain data for the duration of the event, any requests to access, rectify, or delete your information should be made prior to or during the event. By signing the registration form, you consent to the temporary processing of your data as described above.

No Active Databases: We do not maintain or store active databases of individual customer records or historical repair data once the session is concluded. Purpose-Driven Storage: Information is only retained as long as necessary to facilitate the day's repairs and meet our immediate operational requirements.
